Hi everyone, I'm an Assistant Professor at the University of California Berkeley in the Department of Theater, Dance and Performance Studies. My research focuses on fiesta and carnival, U.S. Latin/o American theater, politics and performance. I co-edited a volume called Festive Devils in the Americas that will be published by Seagull/University of Chicago Press in Richard Schechner’s Enactments Series. I also recently published a short piece in the Harvard Review (2013) on participatory production and governance in fiesta and another short piece in the Hemispheric Institute's online journal, emisférica (2013) on fiesta and politics. I'm currently writing a book on populism and performance in Venezuela that is based on my dissertation research. Im a member of LFG, and advisor to the UC Teatro and Performance Colectiva performing artists and activists at UC Berkeley. See them perform a reading of Zoot Suit at the Banned Play Readings on Saturday night in the Sonoran Room!

I look forward to seeing friends and colleagues at ATHE this year!
