United States
PhD candidate in theatre and performance of the Americas.

Dissertation fieldwork in rural Bahia, Brazil. Understanding arts practices in a certified Urban Quilombo as epistemological constructs weaving the social fabric of a community rooted in social resistance. Through analysis of Itacaré's dance festival and my own work as theatre teacher and solo performer, I seek in my research to understand performance as a methodological approach to ethnographic inquiry.

Current works in progress include the development of a poetics and erotics of socially engaged arts practices (to be presented at IFTR 2014 in Warwick, England); reflections of ethics and methods in ethnographic research; solo performance as research; and epistemologies of the Global South as reflected in the cultural life of a Quilombo community.
